This Saturday in South Bend, one of college football’s greatest rivalries is set to renew, when the Michigan Wolverines face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

When the Michigan Wolverines won the game in Ann Arbor behind freshman QB Tate Forcier in the final minutes, Notre Dame will be looking to avenge last season’s heart breaking loss. With question marks surrounding the teams’ respective programs, both programs headed into the 2010 season. Following a two-year 8-16 record, Michigan’s head coach Rich Rodriguez is fully entrenched on the hot seat, while Notre Dame welcomes the Brian Kelly era after Charlie Weiss was fired.

Last week, Notre Dame is coming off a 23-12 win over Purdue in which the offense did not look as crisp as many fans would have liked. At times, the passing game seemed to struggle, which lead to Notre Dame using senior RB Armando Allen more than was expected. Against an injury riddled Michigan secondary, Notre Dame should be able to get in some good practice with their passing game this week.

After Michigan easily handled the UConn Huskies, they are also coming off a week 1 victory. After turning in one of the best statistical games ever for a Michigan quarterback, Sophomore QB Denard Robinson was the star of the game. Robinson racked up 186 yards passing on 19 of 22 attempts and 197 yards rushing.

This week in South Bend, Michigan will bank on their star in the making quarterback to lead them to another victory. With both the defenses of the Notre Dame and Michigan being suspect this figures to be a high scoring, exciting football game. College football betting fans have great expectations from this match up.
